Photographs of President Hinckley, Part 2

President Hinckley has dear friends everywhere he goes and he greets them with true warmth and care (as here with Karl Ricks Anderson).  Kirtland Temple.

This was a tender moment as President Hinckley greeted Elder Hans Ringger who had served 10 ½ years as a general authority and was now emeritus.  President Hinckley said simply, “We miss you, Hans.”  Freiberg, Germany.

You just can’t help breaking into a smile when you are around Gordon B. Hinckley.  Kirtland Temple.

President Hinckley is patient with all the photographers who are constantly taking his picture.  He did say to us one time, in a quiet tone, that “if all the cameras in the world were thrown into the ocean, there would be a great flood.”  Kirtland Temple.

Who can resist President Gordon B. Hinckley’s warmth?  Kirtland Temple.

I love the example of President Hinckley—he is always a sponge for learning. He loves to learn.  His thirst for knowledge never ceases.  Kirtland, Ohio.

When I’m around the Prophet, I can try to take pictures of other things, but it just doesn’t work, I just keep snapping shots of him.  Kirtland, Ohio.

I will never forget this moment in Africa when this beautiful choir sang to President Hinckley at the temple dedication, “Now let us rejoice in the day of salvation, No longer as strangers on earth need we roam…”  There was meaning in those words that went right to the core of my being.  Accra, Ghana.

I was there to take this picture as the Prophet arrived at the hotel in Moscow, Russia.  We had been with him three days before in Germany and two days before in The Netherlands.  He looked at me and said, “What are you doing here?”  “We’re trying to follow you,” I said.  “How are you doing that?”  “Well, it isn’t easy,” I answered back.  He laughed and went on.  That was actually a deep conversation!  Moscow, Russia.
