Teaching Moments
A dear friend of my nephew passed away, and he wanted his three children to learn a life's lesson so he taught them about death and rebirth with the analogy of a cocoon and a butterfly. He lifted his 3-year-old daughter in his arms so she could clearly see the deceased in her casket. Her face turned serious and remained thoughtful until he put her on the floor again. She looked up and said: "YEP! She's dead!"

A Voice from the Dust
The classroom where our ward’s Deacon’s Quorum meets each week has one of those dark chalkboards that is almost impossible to erase completely. One Sunday the lesson was on the gifts of the Spirit, and the advisor made a list on the board as the lesson progressed. The next week’s lesson was a continuation of the same theme, so the teacher asked the boys if they could remember any of the gifts they’d talked about last week. One boy quickly began reciting them in order; he’d realized that he could still read the outlines of the words on the board. The teacher soon realized where the young man was getting his information, and as the recitation ended he remarked: “Wow! I think we just heard a voice from the dust—the chalk dust!”

Sharing Time
Thelast speaker in sacrament meeting was a man "slow of speech." He finally finished, having gone over his allotted time by a few minutes. My 17-year-old son turned to his father and said: "That was a great story he told. I'm going to tell it to some of my friends—only faster."

Malachi 4:6 Revisited
After having a very trying time with his two young sons, ages 8 and 4, my son-in-law turned to me in frustration and said: "I sure hope the Lord turns the hearts of the children to their father—SOON."

Theory of Relativity
Wediscussed the theory of relativity recently. I explained to my children that if they were in a spaceship thatwas going at or near the speed of light, to themthe earth would look like IT was traveling instead of them.Of course, people on the earthwould think that the spaceship wasthe moving object.Ithen asked my children,"Whois right?" My 2-year-old said: "I know, I know;Joseph Smith!”

Just Following Instructions
My son, Mike, once made baked beans for a barbeque that he and his wife attended. Several days later, one of the fellows from the barbeque called him on the phone and asked for the recipe. It's just a usual one - calling for, among other things, 1/4 C brown sugar, 2 T of barbeque sauce and a squirt of ketchup. When Mike saw his friend later he asked how his baked beans had turned out. The friend replied: "Well, we were wondering how it was going to be when we added the quart of ketchup, but they turned out OK."
