Sometimes love is the only answer. Time for some FHE Fun with a cute demonstration of “decorating” others with love!
Opening Song: #136 Love One Another
Opening Prayer: By invitation.
Devotional: Why not jumpstart this week’s FHE with a few minutes of “favorite scripture” sharing time? Not only will it bring a sweet spirit to FHE, but it will show your children you value the scriptures and what they have to offer. These few minutes during FHE each week can bring a powerful spirit to your home.
Activity:
Items Needed:
- Paper plates
- Old magazines
- Glue
- Children’s scissors
- Scriptures
Pass out the paper plates and distribute old magazines amongst the family members. Have them look through the magazines for symbols of love. Those pictures of “love” can be of any kind, but remind them there is fake love from the adversary and real love (also known as “charity”) that comes from God. Encourage them to look for pictures of charity and to cut them out.
Once they have the pictures cut out, have them glue them on their paper plate to make a collage. Once they’ve finished their individual collages, allow each one to come to the front of the room to show off their collage and to talk about why they selected each picture.
Application:
Read the scripture found in John 15:12. Share that each one in the family has just decorated their plate with love. Now ask them to think what it would mean to decorate another life with love.
Close with your testimony and an invitation to select one person this week to “decorate with love.” Invite them to ponder on the meaning found in the scripture John 15:12 and the beautiful peace that comes to lives of people who “decorate” other people with love—even with no reward from others for doing so.
Closing Song: #142 Every Star is Different
Closing Prayer: By invitation.
