Who Are These Amazing Youth, Anyway?
Sacramento Outtakes One, Part 4

By Scot Facer Proctor

Editors' Note:  With your help in sending in the names of these wonderful youth in the last two days, we have placed a number of captions on the pictures below.  Please help us fill in all the rest of the blanks.  You wouldn't want one youth to be left out, would you?   If you can help us identify any of the youth below (who have not been identified) please click here .

If you just joined in with us here in Part 4, we’re trying to caption the following pictures (as well as the ones in Part 1 and Part 2 and Part 3) with who these youth are and where they are from. Please help us figure out the names of the youth, what stake they are from and then please let THEM know that they are being featured on Meridian Magazine.

If you’re not sure what to do, please click back to Part 1 for instructions, otherwise, let’s just keep on moving. I really do appreciate your help. And please stay tuned, because within the next few days I am going to do the same thing for the day of the Temple Dedication and you may just see yourself there!

The girl on the left is Kanani Autufuga from the Elk Grove California Stake.  Who is the other lovely young woman?

Photo #32

We really want to know who these men are!  Can someone help?

Photo #33
Asian umbrella dancer here is Heather Davis of the Vineyard Ward, Elk Grove California Stake.

Photo #34

Can you help us identify the two young men here in the foreground? We still have had no response on this photo.

Photo #35

From one of our loyal readers:  "The cute girl in focus rollerblading, is the wonderful Emily Cowin, Lincoln 2nd ward, Rocklin Stake."

Photo #36

From Kathy Visher we received this background for this picture:  " You're seeing youth from several stakes in this shot. Lexie Webster from the Davis Stake is the lady in blue in front, surrounded by singers from her stake. All performers from all the stakes learned the music sung by the choir. Those who danced (probably 75% of the 5,000, I would guess) were seated up above the concourse in their dance costumes and sang from up there when they weren't dancing. The other 25% or so of the youth (those who chose not to dance) sat below the concourse on both sides of the stage. The people in this photo were to the right of the stage, from the audience view (stage left to an actor). One adult per 20 youth sat with and sang with the youth."  From another leader we got this:  "The choir sections you see are:  The section on the left includes youth from Rocklin Stake in the front and Roseville Stake behind.  My name is Sheri Turner and I am in the left section on the aisle in the blue blouse, one of the leaders from our stake, with Maureen Nuttall, another leader, next to me in the pink blouse.  I could give you the names of the youth from our stake there but you can't really see their faces very well.  I'm pretty sure the choir section on the right that you see is Davis Stake in the front and Citrus Heights Stake behind them."

This one will take some work. How about let’s just focus on the 35 kids that we can identify on the stage?  I can understand why no one responded on this photo--it's just too overwhelming.

Photo #38

There are about 16 or 17 youth on the front row here who could be identified in this winding up scene of the production. From one reader:  "l-r:  Emily Shields, Elizabeth Childs (don't know the next two), then Robin Kramer, (don't know the next two), then Katie Cook....all of Rocklin Stake."  The girl next to Katie Cook with red hair and red t-shirt is Natalie Schmidt.  This just in:  "the 5th person from the left, tall, red hair and red shirt is Emily Roskelley and next to her in the red shirt is Rachelle Roskelley."  By the way, didn't Emily Shields show up in another shot as well?  Click on the picture to get a closer view.  Can you help?

Kieth Merrill (Meridian's Film Editor) is on the left.  We knew that.  We received the most e-mail concerning this picture identifying the man on the right.  His name is
Kevin Van Katwyk - Stage Manager for the Temple Celebration.  He organized getting the masses from their seats in the balcony down through the tunnels onto the stage and back up to their seats.  Other comments said, "He was a member of the Celebration Committee.  His name is on the program with his wife Rica...They were at the Arco Arena from 5:30am to 10:30pm."  He is from the Vacaville 5th Ward, Vacaville California Stake.

Photo #40

Captions came in from various readers about the principal actors.  Far left is George Halaufia (Soni) from the Creekside Ward, Stockton Stake.  Next is Yjohnzail Mack (Jonathon).  Third from left is Erik Eckern (Nick), Citrus Heights Ward, Citrus Heights Stake.  "Young man in the long brown coat (middle) is Josh Morgan (Historian) of the Roseville 7th Ward, Roseville California Stake."  Next is Junie Xiong (Nelly).  Second from right is Desirae Gonzalez (Maria).  Kaitlin Hancock (Sarah) is on the far right.

Okay, you can rest now. Thanks for all your help (we're almost there).   I’ll do some more ‘Sacramento Outtakes’ pieces if you want them.
