As
the sun was rising ushers gathered to the temple grounds to
receive their instructions for the day of dedication: Sunday,
May 22, 2005, one of the most significant days in the history
of San Antonio.

This family was one of the first to arrive. The mother was
lovingly and carefully braiding her daughter’s hair as the other
two waited patiently.

Many of the children came from such a distance away they were
just eating breakfast or a snack at the temple site 90 minutes
before the first dedicatory session.

Young father and child wait as the choir gathers to practice
singing by the coverstone. The view from the temple is immense.

Young boy observes the water that issues forth from the fountain
by the temple. Many of the Saints commented to us about the
cascading waterfalls they pass before entering the temple.

This young boy noticed me and gave a nice pose as I snapped
the picture. It reminded me of being at the temple in Ghana when the people kept asking me to please “take a snap.”

Those who were helping place the little footlets
over the street shoes were very pleasant. All of them seemed
to love their jobs.

This young girl sat by the waters of the fountain for some time.
The sun was rising from behind her and gave a beautiful glow
to this picture.

These three youth tried to make a comfortable bed for the younger
girl who wanted to rest.
