Musical Inspires Rexburg to Sing with Joy
REXBURG, Idaho — “One
Truth — He Lives” is the first musical to open at
the Westwood/Romance theatre in nearly two decades. It is an energetic
and varied musical that celebrates the immense love that Heavenly
Father has for each of His daughters.
The musical centers around the
testimonies of eight women from the Bible. It was composed by
Victoria Loveland, who has been songwriting since she was 12 years
old.
"I am so grateful for the
chance I had to study from these great mentors, and for the opportunity
to combine the craft of songwriting with my personal testimony
of the healing power of Jesus Christ," she said.
The musical is having a profound
influence on many of the participants. Mandi Barrus, a senior
at BYU-Idaho and a soloist in the musical, said, “I've come
to place a higher value on the scriptures and the stories we learn
from them."
She recommends the show to any
woman who is a member of the Relief Society or Young Women program
of the Church, or anyone who is seeking for a spiritually edifying
experience. "Anyone who has women in his or her life will
benefit from learning more about faithful women of the scriptures,”
she said.
This musical has been performed
as a fireside in Arizona and California. In Rancho Cucamonga,
Chieko Okazaki was able to see it. She observed that, "This
musical should be performed in every stake of the Church!"
