This Week in the Blogs
By Rachel Tanner

- Anyone over the age of 12 or anyone who has children can appreciate this blogger's latest entry. The blog, titled “When Primary Songs Go Awry,” tells the story of a young girl in primary and her versions of the popular primary song, “Rain Is Falling All Around.” The blog itself and several of the comments made me chuckle, because I can relate to many of them. I think we all made up the lyrics to our favorite primary songs at one time or another. Read the blog and comments here.
- This blogger writes about how she and her family are “accidentally” environmentalists. I thought it was interesting to read the ways in which her family is environmentally friendly without having to try. I think this can be a good lesson for many. If we are simply aware of what we are doing, we will be able to see ways that we are helping our planet, and that might help us to be more conscious about the environment. After reading this blog, I realized how easy it is to do my part without much effort. Check out the blog here.
- A bookstore in Salt Lake City, Benchmark Books, is hosting a screening of “Nobody Knows: The Untold Story of Black Mormons” at their store on Tuesday (June 30) at 6 p.m. Utah residents in the area should take advantage of the opportunity to see this film, because according to two different bloggers, it is a terrific movie. Those who can't participate in the screening can still check out the blogs and are able to order the DVD anytime. Read both blogs about the screening at.
- I found a great blog that only has scriptures on it. The latest entries are all scriptures having to do with following Jesus Christ and his teachings. I thought this blog would be great to use as a tool for preparing talks on specific topics, for lesson helpers or for personal gain. It looks like a new scripture is posted daily, so this is a blog to keep in your favorites and learn and study a new scripture each day. Read the latest postings here.
- I found a blog with a link to a very interesting news story. In a small town in Texas , the people there voted out the use of “hello” and will now say “heaven-o” instead. According to the county resolution, the new greeting is a “symbol of peace, friendship and welcome.” To read the blog and the whole news story about this new salutation, click here.
