Who would think that an athlete, who competed in two U.S. Open tennis championships, would also be an accomplished lyric tenor? Jesse Holt, Jr is a multi talented person, who will favor the public with a vocal concert Sunday, August 24, 7:30 pm at the Washington DC Temple Visitors' Center. Free to the public, the Center is located at 9900 Stoneybrook Drive, Kensington, MD. Mr. Holt will be accompanied by his current voice teacher David Chapman, who has performed with opera diva Allesandra Marc.
Presently a performance member of the Friday Morning Music Club as a tenor soloist, Jesse also has participated in Crittenden Opera Workshop and has sung as a chorus member in the Washington Concert Opera.
Other noted roles have been a solo performance as the Lieutenant in Gilbert and Sullivan's Yeoman of the Guard with the Victorian Lyric Opera Company, the Page in Menotti's Amahl and the Night Visitors with Opera Plus, and Monastatos in Mozart's The Magic Flute with the Municipal Opera Company of Baltimore.
A graduate of Howard University , Jesse is a physical education teacher with the Prince George 's County school system and also teaches and coaches for the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission and the Greater Prince George's Tennis and Education Foundation.
